We've been raising silkies since 2000. We finally bought a property with a good area for a chicken house, bought some standard layer pullet chicks, and just fell in love with all things poultry. Read a lot about silkies on some message boards, and added a few bearded white silkies to my flock. I was fascinated by their docile nature and unique beauty. I contacted a show breeder, got my first show pair, and have been "hooked" ever since. In addition to white silkies, we also raise lavender and black bearded silkies. I show only in the fall, from September through December. There are spring shows, but by then I'm always too busy planning, breeding and hatching.
